The brig Tricolor was built in 1841. In 1844 the Tricolor departed from Drammen on May 10th for Farsund, and from there she sailed for New York, to where she arrived on July 2. She was carrying 95 passengers. Mastered in 1844 by Capt. Overwien. In 1845, the Tricolor had sailed with emigrants from Bremen, Germany for New York. In 1846 she departed from Christiania May 12th, and arrived at New York July 25th. She was carrying 98 passengers, most of them were from Toten but 21 of them were from Sweden. She was also carrying a load of iron. Master was Capt. Hans Friis. Capt. Friis was a veteran in this trade, he was a mate on "Enigheden" on the 1837 crossing, and the voyage in 1846 was his 6th voyage with emigrants for New York. In 1847 the Tricolor departed from Christiania on March 27th, and arrived at New York July 30th. This time mastered by Capt. Martini.
