Hi Kare, Am carefully documenting all the facts and look forward to each posting. I am taking my mother for a one week holiday tomorrow and leaving my laptop home to truly enjoy the time we spend together. These days are precious. But we will be excited about returning to check on your research! Your South Australian "student" Cheryl |

Hi. Børges parents Nils Sørensen and Anne Dorothea (Nilsdatter) Sørensen still lived, both age 85, in the 1900 census for Nordre Fevang, farm nr 24 (there were several Fevang farms). They were poor, lived by support from the municipality, this farm was owned by Edvard and Maren Bjerkelund.

Hello to Cheryl, Kåre, Tony and other contributors to the Børger Nielsen topic.
My name is Annette Young (Queensland, Australia) and I am also a descendant of Børger Nielsen. He is my great great grandfather.
Thank you so much for the amazing research you have completed about Børger. Like Cheryl and Tony, I have been trying to find out information about Børger Nielsen and his family for a long time. I had almost given up on ever finding anything about him! The work you have done is very exciting for all the members of my family, as Børger has always been a fascinating (but mysterious) character.
I would like to find out more about Cheryl and Tony's connection with Børger Nielsen. I am descended from Børger's eldest son, William Hendrick Neilsen.
Thank you again for this wonderful work.
Annette

Hi Karo,Tony and Annette, Our forum family is growing. How exciting. I've written to both Annette and Tony and it is a delight to share our common goals - each coming from different branches of the family emanating from Borge. If only he knew how interested in his life his descendents would be! Looking forward to documenting the new info Karo. Cheers Cheryl |

Hello all,
I’m giving this a shot since this forum topic has lied dormant for 15 years!
My name is Josh Neilsen and I’m a great great great grandson of Burge Neilsen. Ive started getting into my family tree but get stuck with him. I loved reading through all of this information that you all have kindly supplied but am slightly confused.
I have in my possession his marriage certificate and his death certificate which both list his parent as Niels Swison and Anna Christopherson. But then the information within this topic is not supporting this.
Why would he change his parent names? Or could there have been (however unlikely) another Borge Neilsen on the ship St James from Sanderfjord? I will be in Norway this Christmas and would love to visit some of these churches and farms but want to make sure I’m getting the correct locations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

The information on these pages seem to refer to Börre Nielsen. The family tree for Cheryl Marshall has this record for the baptism of Börre Nielsen. Record from Ancestry.com

Burge or Børre father is Niels Sørensen whose name appears to be slightly changed to Niels Swison in the Australian records. Not a big change from some I have seen.
There is no expiation in this earlier postings in this thread as to why Anna last name is Christophernen. Cheryl Marshall has included this in her Family Tree.
"Name of Parents 1874 • On Marriage Certificate "Nils Swison"(Carpenter) sounds like Niels Sorensen but Anna Christophersen may be his grandmother's name -Anne Isaksdatter daughter of Isak Christophersen. No known reason for this."
