Clipping from Ås bygdebok: Simen Johannessen (line 6, right) was husmann at the Skaug subfarm of the Syverud farm for forty years.
The book gives his year of birth at ca. 1780, probably estimated from his age (26) at the wedding in 1807 (posted by Anton yesterday at 20:56:56) and from his age (68) at death in 1849 (#7).
How do we reconcile this with a baptism in Oslo in 1788? |

Maybe the 1788 in Oslo person is the wrong guy. The marriage record shows him with an age of 26. That would put him born in 1781. Which is probably why several trees choose the Simon Johannesen born 1781 in Sweden.
Here is the marriage record bottom right hand page

Here is the baptism record for Hans born in 1809
I think it is fairly clear that Simon Johnannesen and Ingeborg Hansdatter are the correct parents for Hans Simonsen.
Nr 46

I see that the Bybdebok has his name spelled Johannessen which is somewhat Swedish looking. and born ca. 1780 which is much closer to the 1781 than is 1788.

| Ideally I would prefer to see some indication that Simon came from Sweden before looking for baptisms across the border. To my eyes there is nothing in the spelling of Johannessen that makes it more Swedish than Norwegian. Do the ancestry trees provide any clues that point back towards Sweden, other than the apparent absence of extant, matching baptism records in Norway? |

No, The trees seem divided among those favoring the Oslo birth in 1788, the Swedish birth in 1781 even tho there is no evidence that I can see that indicates he came from Sweden and those that end the Tree at Simon Johansen.

On the other hand it should be said that Västra Fågelvik is less than 5 kms into Sweden from the Norwegian border, and about 60 kms from Ås.
I also note that the Simon appearing in the Swedish Household Clerical Survey had a mother named Karin, and the Simon at Ås gave his only daughter the name Karen, according to the bygdebok clip. |

| The Geni-profile for Hans Simensen (url) doesn't link to father and mother, but there are Geni-profiles for Simen Johannessen and wife (url) linking both further up as well as down to the daughter Karen. |

The Ancestry.com Family Trees can be quite a mess. Some with Simon as son of Johan Rasmusssen but with a birth record for Oslo Norway.
Simon JOHANNESEN BIRTH 2 MAY 1788 • Domkirken, Oslo, Akershus, Norway DEATH 16 MAR 1849 • Syverudplass, Ås, Akershus, Norge

I don't have access to Ancestry, so I can't follow the link to Ancestry's record from the Swedish household surveys that you posted above, Anton; I can only read the text provided directly in the post. Is there more to see at the end of the link? Perhaps a name for a farm where the family was staying?
I also wonder what the relation is between the relevant records at Ancestry and the scanned document at the Swedish national archives below. I have not been able to find Simon and family there:

Thanks , I must have been blind; Båstnäs (in Swedish letters) is right there at one of the last pages in the document I linked to. (I can't say why the link doesn't work for you.)
So Västra Fågelvik is the name of the parish, while Båstnäs is the farm name. Båstnäs is even closer to Norway than the church: Swedish map. Google maps. Apparently there is a wrecking yard there today. |
