This pertains to the passenger list for the Brig Alert, Captain Olsen, left from Kragero, arrived New York August 15, 1852.
Question #1: How can I obtain the passenger list?
Question #2: Is the name Thor Thovsen (aka Thor Thompson, Thor Bamble) on the list? Thor emigrated from Telemarken area and arrived New York "about August 1852".

Hello Kermit

We have not located the list for the Alert yet. If the list has survived it will be archived by NARA. All of the New York lists are filmed and can be easy accessed through libraries, archives and LDS family centers. You can also order the film from NARA. If you find any lists which we have not in our database, we would be very happy for a copy or transcription. You will find more information in our article about how to find passenger lists "Hunting passenger lists":
