After finding the record for the marriage banns (lysning) for the wedding between Gulbrand Løken and Anne Marie Berset, with the unequivocal proof that he was indeed the same Gulbrand in the Geni profile, I "married" this profile to Anne Marie's profile, also adding new profiles for Anne Marie's first housband plus a daughter i the process.

Anne Marie's profile was connetced upwards to her fathher Peder and further back in Elverum, just as the Geneanet tree you have posted above, Anton. I was unsure how well this connection to Elverum was documented; there are many Berset (or at least Bergset) farms around, but then I found something resembling wedding banns (actually forlovererklæringer; witness statements) also for Peder Berset and wife Maren Eriksdatter: Top left. Not easy to read, but I had some help, and (after some clarification) it was established that he was a ranger in the Leutsenske Compagnie, which means that he probably originated from Løten municipality. There was indeed a Berset farm at Løten, and in the piece on Berset, Løtenboka in fact lists the same Ole Pedersen and family as in the online trees (Clipping). Note that Ole was born at Løken in the neighbouring municipality of Elverum, but the family was raised at Berset in Løten. (Løken in Elverum is different from Løken in Ringsaker, where Gulbrand came from).

The book states that Peder was a merchant in Oslo, and although Peder was a soldier at the time of his wedding, he was a described as a Borger og marketenter at Anne Marie's confirmation. A marketenter was someone with a small shop at a garrison.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe we still haven't found the parents of Peder Michaelsen, Tørres Michaelsen's father, although we know from Peder's 1840 marriage record that his father was named Michael Michaelsen.

According to Peder's Geni profile, Peder was baptised in Stavanger on August 16, 1812, and in fact there is such a baptism: Second on the left. Parents Michael Michelsen and Guri Jacobsdatter.

A plausible candidate, but it would be good to know if the author of the Geni profile knew something more or if she also just thought this was plausible candidate ....

Peder Micaelsen was a (master?) tanner, while the Michael Michaelsen who was married to Guri Jacobsdatter is described as a (master) shoemaker at some baptisms. The connection would be more plausible if the two had the same profession, but, on the other hand, consider this (#256). At the baptism of Peder Michaelsen and Birthe Rasmusdatter's son Jacob, there is a witness Micahel Michelsen, and in front of the name I believe I can discern Skom., short for Skomager, i.e., shoemaker.

Yes the father is still a bit of a mystery. At this point all of the Tree's on Ancestry go offf the rails and throw up Michael Olsen from Vest-Agder as his father. No sources provided and to me really unlikely.

The confirmation record does not shed much light either. Lists him as Peder Michaelsen age 14 born in Stavanger parents Michael Michaelsen and Guri Jacobsdatter. The last column contains a date but I can not read it.

It says Skomagermester; master shoemaker. Probate proceedings were opened in June (left side), and relevant records are found at four locations in the probates protocol, on folio pages 88B (the previous link), 92B, 117A and 148A. Not easy to read, but it early becomes clear that there were to surviving sons; M. Michaelsen and P. Michaelsen, and in the last entry they are mentioned explicitly as Skomagermester Michael Michaelsen and Garvermester Peder Michaelsen. (About 70% down on the right side.)

In my opinion this settles the issue; master shoemaker Michael Michaelsen the elder and wife Guri were indeed Tørres' paternal grandparents.

I agree Tore that master shoemaker Michael Michaelsen and Guri Jacobsdatter are the parents of Michael and Peder. I also think that parents of Guri are Jacob Aronsen and Malen Thorsdatter A little more speculation is who is the husband of Guri Michael Michaelsen Sr.

It appears that Guri died in 1830 and Michael .Michaelsen Sr died in 1851. There is a marriage of a Michael Michaelsen to a Birte Svalesdatter in 1831. Could Sr married twice?

This marriage gives a name to the father of this Michael Michaelsen as Michael Danielson.
