Anna Beate Bensen Enebak was born between marriages to Kristiana Throndsdatter (on 12/17/1883) and Bernt Kristiansen (Tohteeie?). Her mother was married to Hans Ellefsen Oien, had 4 children also married to Peder Iversen & had 4 children. I can find everyone except my grandmother on the Norwegian census. Have tried Berntsdatter as surname, along with Enebak name which the family had taken. I have no idea where the Bensen came from as there are no other children using it. I have been told she immigrated to US in 1901, but can find no records that may be her. Is Tohteeie a surname or farm name? Can anyone help me??

She emigrated Jan 4, 1901 Click Here Possibly traveling with Mathias Pedersen??. It might be that she didn't get counted in the census since she was traveling close to the time of the count

I also found a Anna Berntsen, bd 1883, so now I have 2. I know from the other family census that they were born in Gausdal. Could you tell me what Barnepige translated into english would be? UG=unmarried, TJ= servant, am I right? Thank you for replying.

Barnepige/barnepike is a nanny. And you're right about the abbrevations. She was a servant and unmarried...

Hi Katy,

Beate Enebak is the sister of my grandmother, Mathea Enbak. I can confirm that Beate left Norway with Mathias Pedersen.

I am was wondering, Katy, whats the name of your mother? Or are you related to Beate through your father?

I have also scanned some pictures of Beate and her familie. Please take a look at them. Beate is the yough woman in all of the pictures.

Picture 1
Picture 2
Picture 3

I have a picture of Betty Daw and her family. I think its taken some time in the sixties. I can scan and publish these pictures later if someone is interested in them.

Hope to hear from you, Katy.

Harald Karlsen,
Gausdal, Norway.

Hello Harald: I also am a granddaughter of Anna Beate Enebak. Anna's second husband Francis Lane Martin is my grandfather. Would you have any pictures of Anna and my grandfather??? I would enjoy seeing some photos of Betty's visit in the 1960's. Thank you so very much for posting those pictures of Anna and George Herman Tillmanns. Please email me as I would like to ask some "family questions"...For instance who was the man Anna traveled with on the trip to USA??? Was he a 1/2 brother??...Nancy
