I am currently searching for ancestors that left Norway in and around 1865. They travelled on one of the last type of ships to make the voyage before they changed how ships sailed. Sorry I am not up on how ships were sailed back in those days. They came from the Buskerud region. The fathers name was Elling Ellingson, his wife was Anna Olson(datter) and children were:
Elling, Halvor, Sigrid, Ole, John. In the 1865 census records, it has the family coming from a farm by the name of Kaaset in the Nore Hoved-Sogn Nore
District. They immigrated to the USA and came to the Albert Lea, Minnesota area. Can anyone help me find the ship that they possibly came across on. Apparently the ship was the last of its type to sail, and then they moved on to a newer type. In my grgrandfathers papers it says that he came from Numedal, Norway.

I will look for them on the 1865 film when I get a new bulb for my reader.
