David,
I was facinated to read about your Norwegian ancestors "story" and what everyone has contributed. I'm in the final stages of doing a CD/DVD on my own Norwegian ancestors and what I have learned about Norway. I've saved the picture of "the last journey" which I will include in my explanation.... What an incredible country, what incredible stories, what truly incredibly people!!

Warmest greetings to you all. Everyone has been so willing to help on this topic and it is very educational for me. The maps and photos are tremendous. I'd like to share with you all the "story" behind the Hengesteg name that I was told as a youth. It is obvious to me now that this tale is just a stab in the dark and not accurate at all. I was told the name came from someone who had hung themselves from a ladder in a barn hence the name hanging from a ladder. I now know the TRUTH! Thank you.
How about the painting "the last journey".WOW!!!
