I acquired a pottery bowl from my grandfather when he passed away. He was originaly from Norway. But I dont know anything about the bowl at all. So if anyone has any type of information I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for you time.
(I have posted pictures of the bowl on the internet)

It says "Greetings from Telemark" so is most likely a bowl made for the tourist trade.

Hi.

I saw your posting, I have a book about norsk pottery and paged through it. They have listings of aa number of different potteries and examples of their products. It looks to me from a company called 'Terra Keramikk', which would obviously make sense with 'Terra' on the back of the bowl.

I only have a rough understanding of the language, but it looks like the business was started in 1946 in Røyken (?) and in 1956 was taken over by two brothers, Arne and Knut Vaaten who earlier had a business, Brødrene Vaatens (The Vaaten Brothers). It also sounds like they previously had a workshop in Drammen and later got something going for Terra there as well.

Try plugging Terra Keramikk into a search engine, maybe even a scandie one and I bet you will find something.

www.sol.no

is Scandinavia Online, it has a search engine.

Enjoy.
