The original christening records to Jørgine Oline states that she was an illegitimate child, and that it was Ole Jørgensen and Hanna Olsdatter's first fornication.

I have no idea what happened to them after 1873, since they have not been located in any census or emigration records...

Jan Peter

Where would I look for a copy of the original Christening record?

Through all the work you have done for me, today I located the ship she was on the Laurentian. Thank you so much for this.

Just for my own information, how did you know to use the name Oline instead of Jorgine? I have seen through browsing through other sites and notes that this is not uncommon, is it traditonal?

Thanks again for all your help

Hi Jodie,

sorry, I thought I gave you that link, but here it is:

#66, christening record for Jørgine Oline in Bakke church, Trondheim, July 13th, 1873. Link

About the name... well, you wrote "Gergina Oline"... I was just using "common sense"...
"Nobody" is called Gergina in Norway..., so I just figured out that it had to be Jørgine Oline (which is pronounced the same way), and was a very common name those days. Not so much used today...

Hi Jodie, I believe you might be related to my husband, as his great grandmother was Oline Jensine Olsdatter, sister to Hannah Serine Olsdatter. Hannah was the mother of your great grandmother Jorgina (Gergina) Oline Olsdatter. Oline and Hannah's parents were Jonetta Jonsdatter and Ole Sivertsen. Oline married John Johnson in Norway and they moved to Oulu, Wisconsin. I'm not aware if Oline had any contact with Gergina here in the US. Would love to share places and dates with you if you are still interested!
