For Hopkins: Hello from your fellow Javensnaker, Deborah Settles (Ole Bergebakken line). I have hit a brick wall during my research, and hoping you can offer help. Ole had a sister Jose (Josie)? daughter of Erik O & Johanne Bergebakken. She is listed in the 1900 census for Tanberg Township, Minnesota. She is listed as being 18 years old, born in Sept. 1881. I can find no marriage, death, or any other info regarding her. Could you possibly direct me where to try for info? I have contacted the historical society for that area, but again, no info on Jose. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Deborah Settles

This sister was born in Norway or in US? Keep in mind that I have not memorized and don't remember all the different details of these two pages of previous postings.

Tanberg Township in what county of Minnesota? What is the name of the head of household in the 1900 census where you see her living?

The local people in Wilkin County Minnesota should be able to give you advice on where and how to research in their county and/or state collection of vital records. Don't try to approach them as if you want them to research for you -- look for advice about how YOU find the appropriate records for your use.
Minnesota did take state censuses in 1885, 1895 and 1905 perhaps you might find more info in them.
You probably want to also look for local birth records, marriage records, newspapers of the time, church records.
