Have you seen this?

The forefathers to this family was Casper Andersen Skaanøen 1726-93 and Ingeborg Hagtorsdatter Pallum 1726-1812.

Casper Andersen was christened June 2. 1726, left hand 19 and 20. line from top:
2. Juny.........døbt (bap.) Anders and Dordi (Ingeborg) Skaanøens søn (son) Casper

Ingeborg Hagtorsdatters christening record is on the former page, 45, left hand line 30 from top:
Døbt (Bap.) Hagtor and Elin Pallums Datter Ingeborg

Their son Knud christened Oct. 30. 1763 in Statsbygd, last christening in October.
33. Confirme: Casper and Ingeborg Skaanøens hjemmedøbte Søn Knuds Daab.
Casper and Ingeborg Skaanøen (he was christened at home) Son Knuds Bap. 33.

Knud Caspersen married July 26. 1812 in Rissa to Ingeborg Knudsdatter Pallum born 1783.

Gunnar Morten Gravås from Dis-Sør Trøndelag has made this information for Morten Gomo, gjest /visitor, he is a descendant from this family. click here

Hi Kåre,

THANK YOU!! No, I hadn't gotten too deep into this part of the family yet ... this is wonderful and I am grateful for your kindness! I was so surprised to see the Gunnar Morten Gravås name ... I have just received from my cousin a large wall-chart that Gunnar did in 1975 of all this side of the family ... it is about 4' x 5' ... huge and all hand-written!! Gunnar gave the information to one of the Heggens in Canada and they gave it to my cousin at a Heggen family reunion in 1994 or so.

I wonder if there is a way to learn whether Gunnar is still around and doing geneology? I have a correction I could pass on to him that would be important to his work. Any ideas?

His research has Kristian as the father of a family that actually belongs to Kristoffer, who went to Montana. That is my cousins' grandfather and I knew him well also. I am still researching Kristian, although I do know that he married the stepdaughter (Oline) of his Uncle Kristoffer Rian/Rium/Reum.

This is an amazing gift you have sent, Kåre, and I thank you so much! I'll get out my Norwegian dictionary and work on it over the weekend!!

Hei Kåre, I am learning much about the family thanks to your information! I am unable to find one word in any of the dictionary sources I have ... could you tell me what "Forkølelse" means? It is listed as the cause of death. Thank you!

Hi,
the link abowe was a lucky finding.
Its Norways National Day, Mai 17. today, been watching the childrens parade, always a great event.

I think both Gunnar Morten Gravås and Morten Gomo from Rissa could be possibe to find.

Førkølese (old spelling), Forkjølelse today, means having a cold.

Thanks Kåre for the translation. Everyone here in America with Norwegian roots dreams of celebrating Syttende Mai in Norway someday! Until then, we celebrate here with our Norwegian groups all over the U.S. with our own parades and picnics and other get-togethers. Our small Syttende Mai picnic today near Washington, D.C. usually has 500-800 people. Many of the Syttende Mai celebrations in the west areas where most of the Norwegian immigrants settled have thousands of people attend each year. Have a great day and thanks again for all your help!

Syttende mai was very cold, the averarge temprature in Norway was the coldest in 50 years, but most people didn´t seems to care about that.

Here are some more from Rissa and the Skaanøen (øen means island) and Pallum farms.

Skaanøen 1801, Knud Caspersen age 37 "Land. sold." Soldier in the local militia, his mother, widow Ingeborg Haftorsdatter (her husband Casper died 1793) and Knuds sister Ellen age 32, Haftor Gunnersen age 19 work as a servant.

Pallum 1801: Ingeborg Knudsdatter age 18, her parents Knud Haftorsen age 71 and Sara Andersdatter age 57, two brothers Anders age 25, Knud age 20 and a sister, Berit age 29.
Christopher Haftorsen age 68 married to Marit age 62 (on top) is Knuds brother, two sons David and Christopher and a famale servant Marthe age 19.

Knud Caspersen and Ingeborg Knudsdatter married March July 26. 1812.
Bachelor Knud Caspersen Skaanøen and maid Ingeborg Knudsdatter Pallum. Best men were Peder Flyten and Knud Mælhuus, #13

Ingeborg Knudsdatter Pallum was born 1783 and christened in Rissa March 16.
Døbt Knud and Sara Pallums Datter Ingeborg.
Christened Knud (Haftorsen) and Sara (Andersdatter) Pallums Daughter Ingeborg, the next persons are the Godparents, left hand down #17

Wedding in Statsbygd/Rissa Mai 27. 1726, Ingeborg and Knud Haftorsens parents, Haftor/Hagtor Knudsen and Elen Christophersdatter, left hand down page, thick letters: Copul: Hagtor Knudsen og (and) Elen Christophersdatter

Haftor/Hagtor Knudsen was born to Knud Haftorsen Pallum, he died in 1762 at age 70 and was June 6., left hand line 13 and 14 from bottom: Knud Pallum 70 ar gml

Havtors mother was Maritte Jonsdatter Overskaug b.a. 1659, she died in 1730, age 71, and was buried Jan. 29. 1730 in Rissa: Maritte Pallum 71 aar, 2. column line 24 from top

Elen Christophersdatter was born on Flataunet in Rissa and christened March 15. 1704. Hard to read, left hand line 16 from top: Ellen ......Christopher Flataunet, modern Ingeborg (the mother Ingeborg)

Actually, Christopher Flataunet was Christopher Larsen Flataunet born about 1658, he died at age 91,5 in 1747 and was buried in i Mai as Christopher Larsen Flataunet 91 1/2 aar gml

You are welcome,
I find this on Elen Christophersdatter Flataunet in English owned by Olav Henriksen in Norway, but no connection to her childrens families, but you do.

Hi Kåre
In the information above I understood it to mean Knud Haftorsen Pallum died in 1762 at age 70 ... but that doesn't work with his wife Maritte Pallum's death information. It must be Haftor that dies June 9, 1762 at age 70, is that right?

Another question please ...

If Haftor Knudsen Pallum and Elen Christopher Pallum are the parents of both
Ingeborg Haftorsdtr Pallum and Knud Haftorsen Pallum II,
then Knud Caspersen Skaanøen and his wife Ingeborg Knudsdatter Pallum are FIRST COUSINS, is that right?
