Hello Doug,
Hedmark County1865, unmarried Mathea Larsdatter .
I found 24 Mathea Larsdatter ; 1 in Nes, 15 in Ringsaker, 1 in vang, 3 in Løten and 4 in Stange.

Hammer is located to Romedal (1 farm), Søndre Odalen (5 farms), Vinger (2 farms) and Grue (1 farm)

Perhaps a shot in the dark, Matt could be coming from Mathias and N for Nilsen, found 3 Mathias Nilsen in Nes parish, age 32, 22 and 4 in Ringsaker parish at age 21, 17, 16 and 5.

Great finding Doug, of cource Hammeren cold be shortened to Hammer.
In Løiten 1865 we have Matha Larsdr age 19, unmarried servant on Løken lille, age 10 on Hagervold and age 24, unmarried daughter on Grylling.
I hope as we say: getting near the mark.

You will want to verify these dates in the parish registers.

Marriage - 1844 Jan 4
Niels Borresen Aadalen 23 & Petrine Pedersdatter Odegaardeie 28

The additional children born to Niels & Petrine are:
1844 Sept 23 Berthe,
1847 Jan 8 Peder,
1851 Oct 29 Bernt
(all except their last two children, Mathias and Petter were born at Hammeren)

Birth of NIels
1829 Nov 9 Niels to Borre Larsen & Berthe Nielsdatter Nyhuus

Marriage - 1808 May 6 - Borre Ivorsen Aadalstrand & Berthe Nielsdatter
(his patronymic should be Larsen - as shown in the births of at least 6 children)

I am also researching this family, as a member of our Norwegian genealogy group (Nord Hedmark og Hedemarken Lag) is helping a resident of Galesville, WI trace his ancestry, which includes this family.

I found some data in the Løten bygdebok, v 3, page 564, and we have also gone through the church records and emigration records and gathered some more data.

Both Ludvig and Mathias settled in Trempealeau County, WI, while I do not know yet where Petter settled. There were 5 other children, and we know that three stayed in Norway, once moved to Sweden and we are still trying to track down the fate of the oldest, a woman.

We would be glad to share information.
