1900 Census =Christine (Kristin?) Severina Evjen came from Norway 1881, m. Theodor Torstenson in MN 1899.
CHRISTINE - b. 6 Feb 1877(death cert. CA). Where did she come from in Norway? Parents? Not found on US or MN census with any parents. Not found on em. records.
THEODOR - b. Dec 1875, Minn. Father Gullik Tostenson.
GULLIK - b. Nov. 1832, died after 1900 Census. Em 1861. Where did he come from in Norway?

Hi,
I have an interesting candidate for you.
Kristine Evjen and 5,75 emigrated to Rochester (Minnesota?) 1882 with her parents H.S Evjen and Olline Evjen and 4 siblings from district of Hallingdal, Buskerud county.
Her father was a citizen of Rochester, see here
Her father H.S.Evjen was likely Halgrim Syversen Evjen from Gol in Hallingdal, he emigrated as a bachelor 1876 to Fariboult Minn. see here
He must have returned shortly after he established in Minnesota and married Olline.
If she was bap. Kristine Severine she is the right person.
She was not born in Gol, could be Ċl, Nes or Flċ municipalities.

Hei Vivi,
so she was born Ċl in Hallingdal.
Halgrim Syversen Evjen who emigratet 1876 confused me, it was something that did not match, Herman Syversen was her father, perhaps Halgrim Syversen was Hermans brother?
From Kristine Syverine´s bapt we can read that the parents married in Amerika 1872, he was born Oct. 29. 1845 and she Oct. 15. 1855.

Yes, Ċl is in Hallingdal in Buskerud and it is a very nice place.
Look at the note under her parents names.
"Gift i Amerika 1872. Han 29/10 45. Hun 15/10 55."
They were married in America 1872. He was born Oct 29, 1845 and she was born Oct 15, 1855. |

Herman Syersen was born on Bjorde Evje, Ċl.
Parents; Syver Hermansen Sire Evjen and Mari Halgrimsdatter Evjen on Oct. 19. 1845 bapt. Nov 9. see #89
Halgrim Syversen Evjen who emigrated 1876 was Hermans brother, he was born on Evjen Jan. 9. 1856, see #13

From LDS records.
Herman Syversen married Oline Stensrud 1871 in Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota.
Stensrud is a Norwegian farm name, Olines father was Halvor Stensrud.
Oline Stensrud born Oct. 5. 1855 in Hesper, Winneshiek, Iowa, died April 7. 1941, Branden, Minnesota, burial Moe Cemetary, Branden, Minnesota.
Herman Evjen died 1928, Rochester, Minnesota.
Halvor Halvorsen Stensrud arrived at Rock Dell (Minnesota?) June 18. 1855 along with Endre Aslebraaten after been at Rock Prairie, Illinois. Stensrud settled in section 9, see alphabetical from the Kolkin list here

Halvor Halvorsen Stensrud was from Nes in Hallingdal born Jan 6. 1827, parents Halvor Mikkelsen and Halvorsdatter Stensrud, see bottom #30

Halvor Stensrud married Randi Knudsdatter Iverslien from Gol March 31. 1853, see #13
They both emigratet from Gol April 25. same year, see right page #51and 52

So fare LDS has been corret so I see what I can find out about Teodor Torstensen or his father Gullik Torstensen.
The reason I dont always trust LDS records is because of all the submitters coping others without schecking.
If Teodor was born in Norway he would have been Teodor Gulliksen (Gulliks son)
Teodor was born in USA.
From LDS records.
Gullik Tostensen probably married Marie Christiansdatter from Ċmot in Hedmark County born out of wedloc Oct. 23- 1846.
Parents: Christian Scharffenberg and Marte Olsdatter Stai, see #1
Marie Christiansdatter Scharffenberg married Gullik Tostensen July 17. 1871 in Evansville, Douglas County, Minnesota.

TOSTENSON - correct info on marr of Gullik and Marie. I have info on Marie, but still would appreciate help on Gullik Tostenson.
1900 census -living with daughter Beata (Mrs. Ole. Nordby). Gullik born Nov 1832. Em 1861. Died after 1900 census.

You are welcome.
Your family came to the US before the civil war.
The first that strike me when I saw the name Gullik Tostensen was district of Numedal in Buskerud County.
Born Nov. 1832 Gullik emigrated before the 1865 census, was his data of born taken from his age when he died? If so 1832 could be an assumed date.
1880 census for Evansville, Minn. tells he was 48 (b.1832).
The poem from the 1906 tombestone I translated almost 3 years ago, dit it belong to one of these persons?
