I'm trying to find marriage date and place of Nicolai Olsen, son of Ole Johanssen Skaarslien and Anne Olsdatter, born 26 July, 1851 at Skaarslien (Gausdal) Norway. He married Mathiea Larsdatter approx. 1878 or 1879 in Norway. I believe they had 5 children, the first of which I found record being born 5 Nov.1879 at Skaarslien, another born 1880, 1882 and a fourth child born 1883 in Polk Co. MN. I'm not sure if the 5th child was born prior to 1879 or not. Nicolai, his wife "Mathea" and two of his children, Anna and Marie, came to America, leaving April 19, 1883, traveling with other relations. Anyway, marriage date and place and possible the other child is what I am looking for. Thank you, Dusty

Hi

Nicolai and Mathea left Norway April 20, 1883 from Oslo on the ship Angelo. Together with them were 3 children; Amund 18 years old, Anna 3 years and Marie 11 months.

Amund can not be the son of Nicolay and Mathea.

Thank you to both vivi and eibache for your very helpful information on the family of Nicolay Olsen! I have a pretty good record of both of them when they reach the states but just could not find that marriage record or where Mathea was from. I also have some background on Nicolay as he is my main family line. - Dusty

Anna was the one born Nov 5 1879, #33.
Olaf was born Nov 11 1880, #52.
Marie was born Jan 29 1882, #6.
It looks like Marthea had a son Christian, born out of wedlock Oct 13 1876, see #65.
