Seeking help finding birth record for Elie. Lived on Harnes farm 1818 - 1836. A birth record for one of her children is found on page 36 of Sandoy in Aukra parish register 1817 - 1858, More og Romsdal county. This record may give some information about where her birth record may be found that I am not able to understand.

I assume you mean record #3 - Rasmus Elias born Dec 17 1823. Parents Hans Halvorsen, Harnes and Elie Pedersdatter.

Parish records not available for the periode of birth, confirmation and marriage.

Yes - Rasmus is the child. Are the parish records just unavailable at this time or does any written record not exist?

I may be wrong, but I think David is looking for Elie Pedersdtr's birth record..

I can't read the farm name under Elie's birth record for Rasmus.
The 1801 census has a 9 year old Hans Halvorsen on the Harnes farm.

There is a RasmusHans in the 1865 census which seems to match.

Yes - looking for Elie's birth record. Elie is Hans Halvorsen's wife, - the 9 year old in the 1801 census. I saw that 1801 census entry and was able to get much information for that family - Halvor Rasmussen/Marite Hansdatter. Halvor is my 4th great grandfather. I am looking for any birth, marriage, etc. information on Halvor and Marite as well

On the same farm in census-1801, there is a servant Elie Pedersdatter (26) listed.
But if her age is correct, I guess she's not the right one. Hans Halvorsen & Elie Pedersdatter got a son Elias as late as 1836, which would have made this Elie over 60 years old at that time.

Children of Hans Halvorsen & Elie Pedersdatter:
Paullina Hansdatter, born 17 Jul 1818, chr 19 Jul 1818
Halvor Martinus Hansen, born 01 Mar 1821, chr 20 May 1821
Rasmus Elias Hansen, born 17 Dec 1823, chr 15 Feb 1824
Andreas Hansen, born 23 Nov 1826, chr 03 Dec 1826
Hans Hansen, born 06 Aug 1829, chr 09 Aug 1829
Nille Hansdatter, born 24 Jun 1832, chr 22 Jul 1832
Elias Hansen, born 22 Jan 1836, chr 24 Apr 1836

Those are probably the earliest church records available for that area. You could contact a group such as the Norwegian DIS-Møre og Romsdal or the American Møre og Romsdallag - they should be expected to have the information about what records exist.

Jan Peter - thanks for your efforts - I thought the same thing about the 26 yr old Elie. Also thanks on finding Andreas as I had missed him - probably couldn't read the Gothic

Hopkins - thanks for the direction on the More og Romsdal groups.

Lester - thanks I will look at this 1865 census record and see what it has for me.

Hans Hansen's birth record, page 46, entry #6, has a god parent #5, with the last name of Pedersdtr. I can't read her first name. She could be a possible sister to Elie. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=16066&idx_id=16066&uid=ny&idx_side=-25
