Two things you should understand. Norwegian naming practices of earlier years AND the best kind of information to give to strangers when you want to ask for help in searching for ancestors.

Online study material to learn about Norwegian naming practices and patterns.

Hi,

My name is Jon Ivar Torgersen Berg form Alshus Fredrikstad. My grandfather Torger J. Torgersen served together with Arnt O. Torgersen on Segundo during WW2. As far as I know they grew up together on our farm "Alshus". Im not sure, but I`ve heard that three siblings including your father came form the Hvaler Islands due to some family issues an was raised by my great-grandfather Hans Oskar Torgersen and his wife. I have some old photos from the late 20s - early 30s that may be your father.

According to our neighbour Ingrid Andersen ”former: Martinsen” who knew your father, he visited a few times after he emigreated to America. She told me a few stories form his visits.
The Torgersen farm ” Alshus” is still in our family owned by my mother Reidun Elisabeth Torgersen Berg and uncle: Jon Torgersen. The farmland where developed for houses in the 70s and there is no farm activity today!
PS! I think my great-grandfather Hans Oskar Torgersen was Arnts uncle.

Jon Ivar Torgersen Berg
