I would not normally request a translation of this size but I tried google translate and the results were not good. This was written in the bible of my great-grandmother, Marit Hansdatter I think when it was presented to her by her father Hans Hansen Pillervikenon on the occasion of her 18th birthday. This is also contained in the book Hans Hansen Pillarvikens Etterkommere by Birger Sivertsen page 42 if anyone has access to that book.

Her ja herdin Arv jeg rækker dig,

Ladden opholde dig, hvert Trin du her skal træde
Gaa i dens klare Skin, ethvert af dine Fjed
Da har du i al Sorg en uskaterlig Glæde
Og midt i Verdens Sverm, i hjertet salig Fred

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.

This is to the best of my ability:

To you my deeply dear daughter Marit Hansdatter I pass on this precious book as your property and with a likewise fervent wish for its loving storage and blessed use

Sweet child! So tenderly - with father hands I hereby hand you your inheritance, and my warm prayer I send to the sky to the God who knows both you and me.

That he will promote my heart's wish which is, that your father's inheritance may be beautifully preserved, and probably be hidden as food for your dearly bought soul.

It isn't any gold of the earth's wealthy treasures nor secular bridal finery which here shall decorate you. And folly doll's clothes we shall include of which the world so nice can swagger.

One gives the soul gold whose gloss we shall treasure, it embellishes the soul with the honour, finery and splendour which shall please your souls groom and hand you the crown which is hidden in heaven.

Let it delay you, each step you have to take, go in it's clear glow every step of your way, then you have in every sorrow a wonderful pleasure and in the middle of the world's swarm, your heart are blessed with peace.

It shall strengthen you as you now have to renounce on the test's road to your rightfully father, an unquenchable light you can bring with your whose light shall help you in the world's darkness.

It shall guide you up to the heavenly father who will let you in his loving heavenly house and incorporate your among the angels' myriads, where no sorrow will darken your mind any more.

There you shall see your gentle saviour who died for your sins, yes hope that your mother will hurry to meet you there and happily say - be welcome here.

Einar
