Having taken a few trips in the 1891 census images, it makes me wonder whether or not there are plans afoot for transcribing or indexing the 1891 census?

Hi.
I think its mostly based on volunteers in cooperation with the archives.

There are total 126. 000 (2009) shelf meter in the archives from the 11th century to the present which increase with ca 5000 meter a year. Most of the documents are after 1814.
Number of archives are nine.
A proofreading of the cenuses is required because one knows there are errors, but the original is maintained unchanged.
Any correction will be marked with a hammer that one comes across now and then where you can click on to see what the change means.
Anyone can submit corrections where one can read that NN propose following correction; ........

The probate registers has high priority.
