Did you search the big search engines for him as Erik Hanson in addition to Erik Lonning?

Did Erik have any other relatives siblings, aunts & uncles, or cousins who were already in America?

Hei jkmarler.
I have only search for him as Erik Hansen Lonning.
He was met by somone at Philadelphia Port. I don't know whom.
His mother Marie Severine Sverkesen ( maiden name Eriksdotter) birth 17. jan 1852
Kleive, Bolsøy, Hordaland, Norway, emigrated also to Amerika, but I don't know when.
His father Hans Olai Sverkesen, birth 1851 Bømlo, Finnås, Hordaland, Norway.
He died by canser on a steamboat named "Leif" 1. Jan 1883.

Very possibly Erik's mother Marie Lønning, widow, going to Washington in 1905:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=5&filnamn=EMIKRUT&gardpostnr=9109&merk=9109#ovre

Sometimes you have to go wider than what you want to find what you want to know. For instance there might be family members who know something more about Erik than what your branch knows & you have already expressed that you have used all the big major search engines without out positive result.

The Lag has Årbok for 1917 and 1920 which might contain information about Erik.

Great. I'll send them email. Thank you.

Greate. This is his mother. I have searched her name Marie Severine Sverkesen, not Lønning. My mistake. Her spouse Hans Olai Sverkesen, Lønning.

harald, do you know who the Bertha Nilson is who he has listed as a friend. Looking at the origianl manifest, it is also possible that the transcriber made an error and attached Bertha Nislon to Erik and not to the person above Erik as it looks to me that the Bertha Nilson should belong to the person above Erik and for Erik there is only a blank space.
