I am searching for the parents of my gr(4) grandfather. He is also shown as Ole Knudsen(1751-1824). He married Bretha Sorensdatter(Hetletvedt?) July 14, 1778. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bob

A possible candidate.
Ole Knudsen Bergve bap. 1. Sunday in Januay 1750 in Strand parish.
Father Knud Bergve, see almost bottom left page link
Strand is almost across the fjord south from Hetletvedt

Bachelor Ole Knudsen Hetland married Maid Britta Sørensdatter Hetletvedt July 18. 1788.

Farm Hetland in 1801 was located to "Hinderaae sub. parish in Nedstrand" todays Hindervåg ca 2 Miles west from Nedstrand

Nedstrand with 1000 inhabitants merged with Tysvær municipality1964.

It may be of interest to see the marriage record again, it is the 4th from top of left page.

It says Ole came from a Hetland farm - there would be several possible locations. I believe Nedstrand is the closest one.

In the 1801 census Ole is said to be 50 years, i.e. born approx 1751.

I was thinking the same thing Einar, whether he was from Hetland or worked on Hetland when he married Britta.

Mange takk Kare & Einar. I have now found the Hetland farm on the HVOR map. Very close to Hetletveit. The marriage record shows Bretha at Hetletved, is that another name for Hetletveit? Does the 1750 baptism location also suggest this is the correct Hetland location? Thanks again. Bob
