| I think he went by the name Samuel T (for Thornell or Torkjel?) Bondhus in US. He served a couple of enlistments in the US Army and after he got out he got into some trouble and was sentenced to 5 years in Sing Sing Prison in New York. He died in 1934. |

This is likely him, in spite of the listing of birth place as Scotland. The origianl document looks to me like a T. not a J. and his wife is listed as Paula Broadhus, which is the name that I think Jackie found on the marriage document.

United States Registers of Enlistments in the U.S. Army, 1798-1914
