Here is an interesting family, it is a long shot but might be worth looking at. In the 1880 US Census and living in Iowa. The 1880 Census includes a Carrie (?Kari) and a daughter Annie C (?Brita) married to a Hans Reitan.

Looking at the original census record the girl named Carrie Hanson probably should not have the name Hanson attached to her. As near as I can tell she is a daughter of Hans and Anna same as all the other children. All of the children below Lewis were born in Iowa, Lewis and above born in Norway.
My reason for looking at this family is the daughter Annie C has the exact birth date as your Brita.

I don't know much about Jon.
He was the son of Kari's sister, Unni Hansdotter Sivle Førde and Ola Jonson Førde.
Jon was born 1836.
Some of his brothers were Hans Olson Førde, Ola Olson Førde, Ola Olson Førde dy.
Kari had an elder sister Live Hansdotter Sivle Risløv ( b 1812 ) who emigrated 6 yerars later than Kari ( 1864) and died 1885 in South Dakota |

I do not think that this person shown above is the same person as your Brita.
In this record her last name is given as Larsdatter, that does not fit well with your Brita, whose last name was Torstensdatter.

Hi again janhop, since you have a wealth of information about Kari's extended family may I suggest you return to the known locations (known by you) for each individual and scour the area for Kari, Brita, Live. Check the ELCA records of Norwegian Lutheran Churches in those places for a sign of them (ELCA archives on Ancestry.com). Most likely Kari and co. are traveling to someone already detailed on your family tree. Also, return to Ancestry and send a message to Brita Torsteinsdatter Sivle's descendant through Ancestry message system. Might still be reachable.

| Yes 2 ways, paid subscription or Library edition at public library of Ancestry, paid subscription at Archives.com. Archives.com is cheaper and at least a few years ago offered a trial period of one week free. The database is really quirky at both sites however. |

If you use Hansdatter you get 1,456 records, far too many to print out.
All U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940 results for Hansdatter
Kari Hansdatter brings up 68 records. Those are records in which Kari Hansdatter appears in someplace or the other. Sometimes mother of the bride etc.

Probably more worth while to explore the use of Hansdatter and various states and first names.
