| My Great Grandfather Charles Gustav Bell was born in Bodo in 1859/1860. His parents were Charles Bell (Tinsmith) and Joanna Sophia or Sophia Christina Lungren. My GG married in Australia in 1885. He was a Master Mariner. I have his Marriage Certificate and his Death Certificate but have been unable to trace any birth details or his parents marriage details. I would also like to know when he emigrated to Sydney Australia and those particular details. I would appreciate any assistance I can be given. Thank you. |

The 1865 census for Bodø indicates that your Grat Grandfather was born in Sweden. Parents were Carl John Bergqvist and Christina Johanna Sundgren, see 1865.
The tinsmith Bergqvist family moved into Bodø in 1862, no indication where they came from, but reasonably from Sweden.
They had one son Peter Kristian Adolf who were born in Bodø, see #33.

Some more information found in the 1875 census for Bodø, see 1875.
Karl Gustav was born in Umeaa Parish in Sweden 1858.
His father Charl was born in Levanger Parish in Norway 1825.
His mother Johanna was born in Falund, Sweden 1826.

Probably this is Kristina Johanna Sundgren Bergqvist in 1910 census in Bodø, born 27 June 1823 in Falun, Sweden:

In 1900 in Bodø she seems to be Johanna Barqvist born 1816 in Falun, Sweden, a widow.
No Carl with Kristine Johanna Bergqvist in 1885 (marital status not stated).
