Hi

I`m searching for information about my great grandfather, and his trip to America. He was borned in 1882, and his name was andreas iversen romarheim.
According to this link: https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no
he left Bergen 29.03.1909 with a cunard line ticket, and his final destination was Beresford South Dakota.

Is there anybody who can help me with with ship he was traveling with, Date of departure/arival and port of arrival in America. I would also know how many years he was in the states before he returned to Norway if posible.

Thanks :-)

familysearch.org is a freely searchable site and also has US Federal census (1910, 1920 &+) and South Dakota state census (1905, 1915, 1925, 1935, 1945).

How do you know he came back to Norway?

I have been told he was over there for some years. Strange if he was back in Norway already in 1910.

I don`t know anything about relatives he was going to. You are mentining John Thompson, is that the person he went to in Beresford. How do you know?

When I look at the imigration list, I asume my great grandfather are number 4 on the list, and it looks like he is going to Mr Nils I. Evanger (hard for me to understand the handwriting)

By the way, his second daughter was born in 27.04.1911, and I know she was born in Norway, so it looks like it`s correct that he came back in 1910.

Have looked into some papes we have, and he had a aunt named Marie S Romarheim born in 1847. She moved to Ameriva in 1871 and married a Mr Henry Thompson in S.D

Those secondary records in the Ellis Island pages are bit confusing. There is a sort of dotted line in the center of the space to give a larger writing area but what happens is it looks like part of the entry belongs to someone else. At least that has been my experience.
