I seem to have hit a road block and cannot seem to go any wider or deeper. This is the earliest info I have.
Karl (Carl) Kristian Hagen (Kristiansen, Karlsen, Fredlund) Born July 11 1856 in Grorud, Oslo, Norway to parents Kristian Torstensen and Karen Sophie Johannesen. Married Alvilde Maksy (Maxy, Mazy) Juditte Sand (Antonsdatter) born July 12 1866 in Kristiania, Norway to parents Dr. Anton Julius Sand and Mathea Jensen Hoff.

I cannot seem to locate any birth records for them, nor info on siblings. I also cannot locate any reliable info on the parents or their siblings.

Thanks but I wonder if 39 is a likely age to have had Karl. I have however added this record to my "shoe box" and may prove relevant as I found more corroboration. Thank you for taking the time to help.

The records were quite easily found, if you have access to Ancestry.com you should have found them without much trouble.

I use Ancestry.ca but same database. I also searched the Norwegian digital archives. Unsure how I missed them if they were easy finds. Thanks a ton though. Any chance you saw anything reliable on Alvildes side?

This may be Alvilde in 1910:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01036372031940

She was a pleiedatter in 1875:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01052055061663

Using her full name in 1885:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01053257010227

She was illegitimate:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N42K-HRX

You'll want to look up her actual baptism.

A possible for her mother in 1865:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038027050259

And a possible death for her possible mother (since she was pleie in 1875):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NWPK-96B

This death is #66. Mathea is married and age 29:
SAO, Vestre Aker prestekontor Kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0002: Parish register (official) no. 2, 1855-1877, p. 583
Quick link: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb20060208030591

The good doctor is eminently findable at the digitalarkivet. You should look there. He was born in 1844 and died in 1916 and had numerous children. So there will be numerous 1/2 siblings for Alvilde.

Hey, thanks for the help. I found the Doctor on there, and there is even an entry on Wikipedia, but I cannot find anywhere, besides the confirmation record, listing him as the father. Any listing of him that I see does not show Alvilde. Do you think I can confidently say that is him? I sure hope so as that would make the next couple levels much easier.

Hello, I did look at the original record. It actually indicates he is a doctor. I imagine there are not a lot of Dr. Anton Julius Sands. I guess it is safe to assume.

Thanks Anton and Jackie. I have been able to get a bunch wider and deeper now on that side of the family. I realize I was making a simple mistake on Ancestry (there is a little button asking if I want to search all records or just Canada (where I am from) which I was not clicking). Again, thank you both.

Actually what it says about Anton is that he "cand. md" he is studying for his medical license or what was the requirement back in the day. This also matches an obit found for the Dr at the Norwegian national library. From memory it says he was born in Nesne in 1844, studing medicine and received his degree in 1869. He married Sophie Augusta Stang and many children with her.

Maybe your Anton Julius Sand is related to the other Anton Julius Sand the lensmand (sheriff) in Trondhjem? Nope

But Alvilde had a full sister:
