On page 3 of on of the links Kċre provided a Ted Rolles asked essentially the same question as I have.

quote:
I haven't found out how to upload an image into my post yet? Links I've done and seen but how do you insert an image that does not have a web link?

I know it can be done as I have seen some posts that surely seem to have done it, but I do not know how it was done. For example there are some posts on this site of pages from a Bygdebok. I would assume that those are images and not hyperlinks. And they can be posted.

I did not see an answer on how to post an image in either of the links that Kċre so kindly provided.

For other sites ie Facebook I just drag and drop the image from my desktop to the box used for posting.

Hi lyndal40, at one time Jan Peter explained how to post an image in this forum, but I don't recall when.

I think the website tiny pics was the relevant host site. Upload your image there:
http://tinypic.com/

There's an option to post to a forum, so follow those steps. The digital size of your image matters I think - affects how large the image will appear here.

Hope this helps.

That might be it, Jane. I gave it a try with an old photo I had in my file rather than the Bygdebok page. I did not have the Bygedbok page in a readily accessible file. It looks to me like it works but not nice and clean like Jan Peter gets them to look.

Hmmm. None of the test links have produced an image - at least I cannot see an image, only the links. On the tinypic website there should be an option to post to a forum or message board. Selecting that option should give you a unique url to copy and paste into this thread. That should result in an image being visible here. I'm on my phone (we're not near a computer) and attempting this procedure myself isn't working (image won't upload to tinypic), otherwise I'd help troubleshoot, Anton.

Jan Peter you are hopefully going to explain to me how you get those good looking images.

I know that on some of them you used Image Shack, however Image Shack is now a subscription site so I would prefer not to use them.

Here is an attempt to upload a photo of the Atlas using TinyPic after registering using an email address and reducing the image in size

Well maybe I get it. After I registered with TinyPic using an email address it seems as if it works much better. And I used the IMG Code for Forums and Message Boards. And reduced the image in size for Message Boards. Fairly simple once they get your email address.

For future users

Using TinyPic
Sign in after signing up with an email address
Choose a file ie your image wherever you have stored it
Add a Tag
Resize the image to Message Board size
Upload to Your Album
Copy the IMG Code for Forums and Message Boards
Paste it in the Norway Heritage Message Box
Click Submit Reply

Thanks to JaneC and Jan Peter for all the help.
