4. Truls Syverstad
5. Anders Pauls. Wahl

The column following the godparents is about who performed the home baptism if there was one.Marthe Pedersdatter Syverstad.

Probably this Truls:

Possibly this Marte Pedersdatter on Syverstad:

Probably the marriage record for Friderich Ottensen and Birte Hansdatter on January 5, 1838. He is 32 and she is 32. His farm name is Holmen

#44

Based on the marriage record I would think that this is the baptism record for Friderich Ottesen

Friderich Ottesen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Friderich Ottesen
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 8 apr 1806
Baptism Place: Domkirken, Oslo, Akershus, Norway
Father: Otter Christophersen Syverud
Mother: Giertrud Iversdr

The original record indicates that Frederich has a twin brother named Christian. Record starts on the bottom of the second column and extends into the third.

Link

Ancestry record indicates that Christian died in 1807

Death Date: 13 aug 1807

Parents were married in 1795

Otter Christophersen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Otter Christophersen
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 28 aug 1795
Marriage Place: Domkirken, Oslo, Akershus, Norway
Spouse: Giertrud Iversdr
FHL Film Number: 125764

Far left hand column

Link

Here is Otter Christophersen Syverud and his wife Giertrud (here called Jerture Syverue) in the 1801 Census

Link

He seems to have arrived in Norway in December of 1796. His occupation is listed as spækhøker og øltapper. Roughly means a Bacon and Beer Salsman I would think?

Based on the marriage record, I would think that this is likely the baptism record for Birte Hansdatter. Her father is Hans Svendsen and mother is Anne Hansdatter. She was born on July 1, 1807 and baptism was on July 12. Second record right hand page

Link

Based on the inclusion symbol on the far right of the page I would assume that Birte has a twin sister named Krestine.

Hans Svendsen Solberg married Anne Hansdatter on January 9, 1805. First record on the right hand page

It starts

Olava Fredriksd. Tokerud (Tukerud) 2/4 37 Syverstadeie Fredrik Ottesen and Birte Hansd.

That is usually followed by a description of how she did in the confirmation class. This one seems to be unusually long and the translation of that will have to wait until the Norwegian get out of bed tomorrow.

The column title is "Christianity and diligence"
I think it reads: Neglected (by the parents), but after 2 years of preparations (she is) quite good, and give a very good behavior.

Wow! Yes!!! I have read Aloha from Forgotten Norwegians in Hawaii which as the personal account in it as well— of a physicians assistant. Also, 1881 – NORWEGIANS IN HAWAII CONFLICT IN PLANTATION SOCIETY. And a few other related articles that I have in my Norway/Hawaii notebook— which I will be pulling back out since I’m back on Anton and Helen. Such a fascinating, if not bizarre, bit of Norwegian/Hawaii/American history!

Thank you so much! All of you!
I’m thankful for this mishap of having the wrong Anton. He was one of my fist in the tree and it was while I was still learning, not only about the people in the family ( my mister only knew is grand parent’s names), but also about genealogy. My own family has been in hand forever due to historical societies and clubs, so it was just a matter of looking.... Not cross referencing and re-cross referencing...
Going back has given me the opportunity to clean things up a bit.

Fredrik Ottersen & Birthe Hansdatter had atleast 4 children:

#77 Olava Fredriksdatter Born 02 Apr 1837 @ Syverstad eje in Asker
#37 Karen Elisabet Fredriksdatter Born 04 Feb 1840 @ Berger eje in Asker
#151 Hans Jacob Fredriksen Born 12 May 1842 @ Holmen eje in Asker
#82 Carl Johan Fredriksen Born 02 Sep 1845 @ Jongs eje in Asker

Likely Karen @ Fredlund nedre in Asker, census-1900. Karen is receiving support from the Poor Relief Fund.
Likely Karen @ Snippen in Asker, census-1910. Karen is receiving support from the Poor Relief Fund.

This seems to have been a family of few means. Also Olava was receiving support from the Poor Relief Fund.
And the parents Fredrik & Birthe were moving around, also an indication of few means. The four children are born at four different small holdings in Asker.
Olava's confirmation record also hint in this way. The priest commented that the girl was "neglected" by the parents, and she spent two years to prepare for the confirmation, while the common was one year.
She did well though, and the priest gave her very good grades in Christianity and diligence.

One thing I've wondered about is the son Carl Johan. In the majority of censuses he gives his birth place as "Sandviken." Is this exclusive of Asker or is it part of Asker?

#150 the death of brother Hans Jacob

A lot of deaths on this page attributed to the same disease.
