A search for Ole Jacobson /Ole Jacobsen in the North Dakota Public Death Index on line found only one Ole Jacobson who was born in 1866 to have died in North Dakota from 1900-1969:
JACOBSON, OLE 08/12/1942 Nelson MALE 76 Years 06/11/1866 North Dakota Nelson
Same search Knut / Knud //Jacobson / Jacobsen in the North Dakota Public Death Index online found no examples of any who were born in 1868. |

It's come to this, the weirdest of weird possibles, a Knut b 1868 and a somewhat older brother Ole who came to US after Ole but not in 1893:

| Cant really imagine someone by the name of Selsjord would go along naming themselves Erickson, but there you go, bearing in mind the Selford bloke from Waupaca , your post 10.04 and all his variations, who obviously is the same man, considering the consistent localisation at Waupaca, Wis. Had som hope to Ole Selma, a choice with som resemblance, ,but then I could find no info on Family Search strengthening that hypo |

There is an interesting database of records of theRoyal Norwegian Consulate records 1922-1968. They mostly cover the upper Midwest, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana and South Dakota. This is copied from the search engine there for Ole Jacobson:

Don't know if there is any connection to the Selsjord search or not but it is an interesting database. Here is a link to information about the finding aids:

The actual files haven't been digitized and placed online but you can contact the Special Collection staff for a copy. There appears to be no Selsjord inquiry or estate settlement records (which go both ways to settle estates from Norway to US people and to settle US people estates on their Norwegian relatives.) Since the 1939 search was on the consulate level, it seemed possible that Ole and Knut might be mentioned but evidently not. |
