I have been able to locate my great grandparents emigration records in the Danish Emigration Archives. One of the categories indicated is the "Registration Date". What does this category mean? If it is the approximate departure date, what would be the approximate arrival date in N.Y., N.Y., U.S.A.. Thanks, OleO

The registration date is usually (at least for Norwegians) the date when the emigration contract was registered with the police. The departure day could be the same day, or any day after. The approximate arrival date is not easy to say, ships used much longer to cross in 1880 than in 1920, and longer for some lines than other lines, depending on the ships in their fleet at the time. A good tip might be 2-4 weeks after the departure, depending on the mentioned factors.
