To answer your questions:
Herold C Holm's mother Josephine looks to be of German descent. Census-1900 list that she is born in Minnesota, but both her parents are born in Germany.

Benjamin, Rebecca, Clara and Emma are listed as Boarder's / Steward, so they're not necessarily family. Both Clara and Emma's parents are born in Germany, so the girls could be relatives to Josephine.

James, depending on your abilities with the Norwegian language, this online dictionary might help you read all or some of the information eibache has provided you.

So you mentioned the Grue before help me with the other two? Well if I were to go to family crest.com …. But would that be just made up? If I understand you a coat of arms and family crest are not the same? My son is thinking about a tattoo with his coat of arms / family crest? What would that be if we had one?
I’ve also been thinking, do I have any living relatives still over their? I find this all fascinating and have received much more information than expected, you guys are great!!

If youi google Grue Norway and look at the wikipedia article on it, that will help explain how Norway is divided into muncipalities, counties etc. Click on the links below.

The coat-of-arms is from modern times. It was granted on 30 October 1992 and designed by Egil Børresen. Was there one from the 1700/1800's

Hi James,

Josephine's maiden name was Dauwalter.

Just curious where you got the birthdate information on your ancestor, Haakon Holm...
