Anders Anderson and his wife Andrine came to the US in 1873 on the Valkyrian. He was born Feb 18, 1846 and she on Feb 19, 1848. I would like to find out about their parents and siblings. In 1883 he changed his name to Andrew Brekke or Brakke. |

They em. with last name Halefos. Changed to Brekke /Brakke in the US. Origin Brække in Norway. Brekke is very common in Norway.
Can´t find any Halefos farms in Norway even the name sounds Norwegian (Hale means tale and fos means waterfall)
I have Halebrækken in Lærdal parish, Sogn & Fjordane County, Western Norway?

These persons are on the passenger list of the Valkyrian as given in the earlier query thread??
On that passenger list there are a couple of persons identifying themselves as "Brække". They were from Fitjar, Hordaland.
Perhaps it is Fitjar (earlier part of Stord) where you should do your research.
Fitjar/Stord church records show a Anders Andersen born there on 19 Feb 1848. Is that just a coincidence or is some information mixed up? But there is also an Anders born 18 Feb 1846 in the Fitjar records... |

I notice that you have a Family Tree on Ancestry.com. One of the children is name Kari and she was born in 1872 in Norway. Here is a potential candidate that might be worth looking at.

All your responses have been fantastic, Thank You. I do have a few questions, on the 1865 census is Anna Endresdatter the mother-in-law to Annanias Hansen, I think Guri is Endrine's sister. What is Nils Prevesen's relationship to the family and who is Magrette Hovaldsdatter, also, has Endrine's father died before this census? Thanks again. Wanda |

Guri Christoffersdatter is Endrines sister, see bapt record #22 - their parents were Christopher Nilssen and Anne Endresdatter, Storebøe.
Guri and Endrines parents were married June 17 1838, see #9. Christopher Nilssen was then a widower, he was 33 years old, born and lived on Stor Bøe, father Nils Corneliussen. Anne Endresdatter was 25 years old, she was born on Hedemarken and her father was Endre Jørgensen.

Nils Prevesen was a servant, he was born in Sund and his parents were Preven Hansen and Christi Mikkelsdatter. Annanias Hansen parents were Hans Jacob Elholm and Karen Praebentsen (Prevensen?) Nils father, Preven Hansen was born in Os May 28 1816, he must have been Annanias brother, their parents were Hans Jacob Elholm and Karen Elholm (Praebentsen).
