My Grandmother and her family sailed from Norway on the Montebello some time in 1904. They were: Erland Paulsen and his wife Gert Torstensdatter; and their 8 children (Marit, Marie, Hans, Petra, Anne, Paul, Emil, and Thea); and, a granddaughter, Hilda.

I know that they sailed to Canada, but don't know the date of the sailing nor where they would have landed in Canada.

I realize now that the Montebello sailed every two weeks from Kristiania to Hull in England. Is there any information on passenger lists so that we can determine what date they sailed on from Norway. And, is there any way of determining where the ships sailed to in Canada?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, nancy

The entire family didn't leave Norway at the same time -
Erland and wife Berthe left on or about the end of April 1906 from Oslo/Kristiania. They were from Nord Fron, Oppland, Norway. They must have some family history with a farm name matching or similar to Bekkesletten.

Two of the older daughters did leave in 1904 -

Erland Paulsen before his marriage in 1875 Norwegian census? -

1865 census also indicates two Erland Paulsen/Poulsen boys of about the same age. I think it would be safest to check the marriage record for YOUR Erland to find a definite link to one of them.

Erland and his family departed from Norway on the Montebello as you already know to Hull in England. They had tickets from Alb. Raffel who in 1906 was the general agent of the Canadian Pacific Line. He was authorized to convey emigrants from Norway to Quebec, Montreal and St.Johns and by the Canadian Pacific Railway to the final destination.

The girls in 1904 went by the same agent and line.
