My husband's grandfather was on the SS Romeo whenn it was torpedoed in 1918. We have only just discovered this and wondering how we can find out more information, especially the list of the crew. Would be grateful for any further information.

I would start by looking through the local newspapers from Hull to see if they had lists of lost crew. If you can't find any there you could check if there are military sources dealing with war casualties. I guess there were pensions to be paid to relatives and such matters requiring some kind of records.

Hi.
My grans brother was on the romeo when it was hit, there were no survivors. The names of the crew are engraved on the tower hill memorial, london. You can go on line and search free and print off a memorial certificate with the persons details on.
I am also looking for a crew list just to enclose within my family history file.
