And actually, I was wrong! Kitchen Stories is available on DVD rental only, not Instant Play, so I probably won't be seeing it. Darn!

We watched "Kitchen Stories" and it was very good! I would definitely recommend it. It reminded me of my Norwegian Bachelor Farmer Uncle. :-)

Intersting page you found Wanda.
Noone knows what happened to the Norse settlements on Greenland after the 1300s
Baffin Island was called Helluland "Flat slab land" in the Saga.
Perhaps it´s possible to find out where the whetstones came from.

Whetstones from Eidsborg in Tokke, Telemark, has been exported to Scandinavia and the rest of Europe since the 700s.

Did you see Kon-tiki? I haven't seen it yet. I know it was showing in Norway, when we were there in August.

I do not see a movie release date for the U.S. yet, but they say, sometime in 2013. It has only been released for special showings. I'm looking forward to seeing it. The trailer looks very good!

Hei
It was a good movie, exiting and dif. from the 1947 edition.
This time the dangerous, scary situations were shot in secure facilities unlike in 1947 live production where the camera had to be put aside when it was about survival.

Looking forward to it. I see that it's not very long. The movies that have been being made lately, have been almost 3 hours long, which gets to be very long in a theater. I hope it wins at the Oscars!

Not a movie, but a book and a 12-hr TV-show on national TV last weekend about Firewood ... Bark Up or Down?

I just heard about this last week. They said the most popular book and tv series in Norway, was about cutting firewood. Amazing! What is the draw? Is it exciting in anyway? Or has it been a long Winter?

My Dad always stacked the wood, bark side down, but when I stacked, it just got stacked however it fit best together. My Dad didn't mind, because I was doing the job, but my Norwegian bachelor uncle, would come over and tell my Dad that he stacked the wood wrong. My uncle wanted him to fix it, but my Dad enjoyed seeing how it bothered him, so he just left it the way I had stacked it. :-)

Here is a video-interview with Lars Mytting, the author of the book "Hel ved" ("Whole wood"). English subtitles.
The book came out a year ago or so, and became extremly popular instantly....
