Difficult to find Mathias Imbs em. record Janice.

This familytree from Pasadena, California, has Imbs in the Surname List.

Thank you eibache - that is an excellent source of Norwegian immigrants to Norsewood which is in the North Island of New Zealand - I THINK my ggrandfather arrived in the South Island as first record of him buying land is in Invercargill (most southern city) in 1878.

Thank you to Kaarto - yes, Mathias is listed in this family tree - I have emailed the writer but no reply as dated July 2002 - somewhere in USA are distant relatives!

You have relatives in the US.
The e-mail adress to Joel Scott Damir is probably to old.
Since his name is in the familytree online I guess it´s okay to look after him vithout violating his privacy.

Hopefully this is the right person.
Joel S Damir lives in Sycamore Place 312, Sierra Madre, California, see almost bottom here

I am still unable to find when Mathias Imbs arrived in New Zealand and the ship that he came on. Eibache and Kaarto, you have both been most helpful. Thank you. I am awaiting a reply from the family you gave me address for.

In the meantime: could you tell me anything about Tanke Mathias D. Ims born 31.8.1890, died 3.4.1904. I found a grave for him in the churchyard at Hole when I visited Hole and the farm Ims in 1985. I took a photograph of the grave but have never found out who his parents were, or if he is related to our Mathias Imbs.

Tanke Mathias D. Ims in the 1900 census.
The father Daniel Larsen came from Meling and the mother from Dyrdal.

Since Tanke and Mathias are first names I do not see any immediate relationship to your ancestors.

Thank you Eibache for quick reply - I thought it only a possibility and the Ims surname (farm name) made me wonder.... I can now eliminate that from my research.

You may be interested in the marriage record for Mathias parents Ole Olsen and Anne Sørensdatter, it is #2 in 1830.
Ole Olsen was 40 years old and came from Høle, Anne Sørensdatter came from the farm Flaa on Finnøy.

Anne Sørensdatter was baptized July 7 1805, see 2nd record on left page. Her parents were Søren (Olsen) and Kirstine (Gudmundsdatter) Faae, see also 1801 census.

Ole Olsen, his parents and siblings in 1801.
