Seeking info on grandparents.Have some info on my grandfather Dedrik A Maanum in Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota (believe born USA with parents born Norway). But cannot find any record of marriage to my grandmother Ranghild Fossebraten (born in Norway), known in USA after marriage as Rose Maanum. Rose died in about 1924 in Minneapolis. My mother Annette Juline Maanum Cina was their eldest child, and she was born in Napoleon ND on 6/29/1908. Any help/info appreciated.

Didrick A Maanum, Birth: abt 1884.

A guess on his father:
Anders Larsen Maanum, born 09-May-1852, emigrated to America June 7th, 1852. He is from Nord-Aurdal, Oppland.

Thanks for quick reply. I have a source that shows grandfather's mother's name as Garlie. Does that connect with Anders Larsen Maanum at all?

Do you know when your Dedrik is born? He looks to be born ab. 1884.

I found this Maanum family in the 1910 United States Federal Census for Pope, Minnesota:
Andrew Maanum 70
Andia Maanum 60
Oscer Maanum 32
Otto Maanum 23
Anton Maanum 20
Sophia Maanum 26
Agness Maanum 2

This looks to be the same family in Census 1900 for Hoff Township, Pope, Minnesota:
Andrew Thoreson 59, born Dec 1840, Norway
Andria Thoreson 49, born Mar 1851, Norway
Oscer Thoreson 22, born Mar 1878, Minnesota
Edward Thoreson 20, born Nov 1879, Minnesota
Hendrich Thoreson 18, born Oct 1881, Minnesota
Derick Thoreson 16, born Sep 1883, Minnesota
Alma O Thoreson 14, born Aug 1885, Minnesota
Otto Thoreson 12, born Jun 1887, Minnesota
Anthony Thoreson 10, born Oct 1889, Minnesota

Could Derick Thoreson be your Dedrik A Maanum?

Or could Garlie be Karie?

Census 1900 for Langhei Township, Pope, Minnesota:
Karie Maanum 51, born Dec 1848, Norway, imm 1866, widow
Olaus Maanum 27, born Jun 1872, Minnesota
Julius Maanum 22, born Jan 1878, Minnesota
Albert Maanum 18, born Jul 1881, Minnesota
Otto Maanum 15, born Aug 1884, Minnesota
Conrad Maanum 13, born Oct 1886, Minnesota
Malvin Maanum 7, born Sep 1892, Minnesota

In the neighboring house, there's one Erich J Maanum (36), born Aug 1863 in Norway.

I have found these in US Fed Census records:

1910 United States Federal Census
Antha J Maanum (my mother and her family)

1920 United States Federal Census
Dedrich E Maanum (lists my mother among the family)

Minnesota Territorial and State Censuses, 1849-1905
Didrick A Maanum

Lots of different spellings
Find my grandmother listed as both Ranghild Maanum and Rose Maanum, but cannot find where or when they married.
Her death certificate in Minneapolis about 1924 shows her maiden name as Fossebraten.

Dedrick A. homesteaded in Montana and North Dakota, but other Maanums were from Pope Co. area, wheat farmers to this day I think.

Didrick A Maanum can be found in the 1905 Minnesota Territorial and State Census for Pope County. A look-up there could reveal his parents or siblings.

I think he should be either Karie's or Andia/Andria's son.

Dedrick Maanum
Birth Date: 15 Sep 1883
Death Date: Nov 1976
Social Security Number: 469-16-0158
State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Minnesota
Death Residence Localities ZIP Code: 55417
Localities: Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota

He fits with Derick Thoreson (16), born Sep 1883, Minnesota in the 1900 census for Hoff Township, Pope, Minnesota:

I think Dedrik Maanum's parents are Andrew Thoreson (59), born Dec 1840, Norway and Andria Thoreson (49), born Mar 1851, Norway.

Ragnhild "Rose" was born in Norway, her death certificate mentions Trondheim and her maiden name was Fossbratten, or some similar spelling.

I am certain that is she!! Thank you so much! Now I need to find out how she came to America and where and when she married my grandfather. She actually died in 1927, not 1924. I have copy her death certificate.
