This is my 3rd great grandfather. He was born in Dec 1808 in Tromso. He is in the 1857 census with his wife Johanne Margrethe Christiandatter. He is listed as widowed. I have information on his children but no clue when he died. Any help is much appreciated!

Erik and Johanne had a son Anton Edvard in 1867, and Johan Fredrik Martinus in 1868.
Since Erik Larsen is not in the 1875 census, he has most likely died between 1867 and 1875.

He died July 16 1871, see #43.

The listing as widowed comes most likely from Erik and Johanne Margrethes marriage May 16 1857, see #2.

In the 1865 Census for Erik Larsen, I noticed that some of the children have asterisks, (*) next to their names. I am guessing that those are the children from the first marriage?

Note that Samuel Johanesen in the 1865 census should have been written Samuel Johannes Eriksen, ref his baptismal record #24.

In the 1865 census, by the way, no children from the first marriage - if there were any, is not listed.

Erik and Johanne Margrthe aslo had a son born in 1862, Anton Benedict Karesius, see #36. He most likely died since he is not in the 1865 census.

Thank you! I was wondering how I had missed that in previous Censuses I had looked at.
