Hi I am trying to find information about my Norwegian great grandmothers family. She was Jessica Dora Madeleine Halvorsen and was born in Oslo 25th Feb 1881.

I know her father was called Anton Severin Halvorsen and that he was born in Raade, Ostfold about 1840. While her mother was Jensine Severine Andersdatter and was christened in Stromso, Drammen on 3rd Sep 1843 her parents are Anders Larsen and Else Pedersdatter.

I think they married in 1869, they had 6 children Arthur (1866) Severinus (1873) Kristian (1878) Jessica (1881) Adele (1884) and Armand (1886) They were all born in Oslo with the exception of Severinus who was born in Bergen.

Any help much appreciated can not find any records for Anders and Else wonder if they are perhaps Danish?

Nothing in the baptismal record for Jensine for the origins of her parents, although one of the witnesses is named Samuel Pedersen, who maybe releated to the mother of Sevrine. See Number 51

Here is the marriage record for a Jensine Severine Andersdatter and Anton Severin Sorensen May 5, 1869. The father of Anton is listed as Halvor Sorensen. So for this marriage he is using the last name of his father rather than the patronymic of Halvorsen? See number 53.

This looks like part of the family in the 1900 Norwegian Census, with Jensine Halvorsen living with her daughter Jessica and Jessica's husband Sigurd Schellhorn and one son Robert and a brother-in-law Armand Halvorsen born 1886. Also another Schellhorn family living there as well.

Else dies 2 Nov 1849 and is listed as 52 years old. That would put her birth as about 1797.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1137&idx_id=1137&uid=ny&idx_side=-266

There was also an Else Magrethe Strøm born about 1797 in Fredrikshald/Halden - father named Peder.
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebCens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=14&filnamn=f1801&gardpostnr=3926&sokefelt=skjul

This Else also married an Anders Larsen 1821 in Halden -

FamilySearch.org has a pretty good number of children born to Anders Larsen and Else Pedersdatter from 1822 into the early 1840s. Possibly the same couple or just a coincidence of same names...
