This is how far I have gotten with the translation of Peder’s military certificate with much help from delphi49 and several people who responded to my request on the Ancestry.com Norway bulletin board. They also suggested that I ask on the Norway-Heritage site.

An image of the certificate can be viewed at: https://flic.kr/p/nb5f7p

“Peder Jacobsen born in Klæbu parish on 30th November 1831, ?.....? medium high size,

af Legemsbygning has served at 7th Batteri national ?(at least 3 words written here?)

from 1st January 1854 to 1st January 1864, is ?...? ?formedelst (spelling?)

(?two written words here?) dismissed from that military service.

Trondheim the 1st January 1864.”

MUNDIA has the following entry by disa_banker:
“Military: 36th Batalion, 6th Div, Jan 1854-1864"

I can not determine how this was read and translated from the certificate. Below the line is written “No.36" and “?6" but I can not read the words on the line. Perhaps they had another source for the information.

I have indicated the words that I can not read or understand with ?. . . ?

Any help is much appreciated as I try to learn to read Norwegian printed letters as well as handwritten letters and then try to translate words.
Sincerely,
Dennis
