I'm looking for a possible son born to my gt. grandfather, Jens Mork Anderson Skei from Donna Island, Norway. His name was Olaf Brue and he was born around 1899.

If so, this is likely his Naturalization Record from 1939.

Olaf Brue
in the U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1992 (Indexed in World Archives Project)
Name: Olaf Brue
Birth Date: 15 Jun 1899
Birth Place: Norway
Age at event: 39
Court District: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa

There is a lot of information on this Olaf Brue including Census Data with family etc. but first we need to know if this is the person you are seeking.

More information on your Oaf would be nice.

Jens Andersen Mørks father, probably as widower, Anders Benjaminsen Skjei and two of Jens siblings, Petra and Alvin,em. from Dønna 1898, dep. port Trondheim, tickets paid for in America link

So your Olaf Brue was born after 1890 and before 1898.

The earlier topic had Jens Mork emmigrating in 1893 so a son would have been born after 1890 and before 1894 if he was born in Norway. . Which rules out the Olaf Brue, I posted above.

Hmmmmmmmm.
I have a feeling that this is your Jens Mørk Andersen, he was connected to Ugelfoden on the island Herøy where his father was born.
Herøy is south for and close to Dønna and connected with a bridge today.
Everything except for his age correspond.
This Jens M (Mørk) Andersen was unmarried and the ticket was prepaid in America.
Are you sure of that his son Olaf was born in Norway?

Pam, why not tell what you know about him? He had a mother, perhaps you know her name. His name, his birth ca 1890, his father's identity is all information you've found somewhere, but where? His father emigrated; did Olaf, to your knowledge, ever emigrate? Which farm does his farm name come from - do you know? Please describe the context in which this name Olaf Bru arises, and in general share all you can about an individual and the generation before and/or after him, when starting a genealogy search. You'll save your helpers time.

this poster had another topic on Jens' father in 2014. Here is an older post from 2010 that had some background information:

Rereading the earlier post of this poster, I noticed the post by JaneC on the arrival of a Jens M Wglefod. Looked it up on Ancestry.com and found two entries for this. The one that JaneC posted and an another one with a date one day later for a Jens M Anderson. Looking at the original for this date, it shows the last name of Wglefod (probably Uglefod) crossed out and Anderson written over it. Also the distination is given as Pelican Rapids. Here is the transcribed version.

The two forms are slightly different.

Name: Jens M Anderson
Gender: Male
Birthdate: abt 1875
Age: 18
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Cephalonia
Arrival Date: 25 Jun 1893
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Friend's Name: Iver Olsen
Last Residence: Helgelane

A repeat of the info posted by JaneC in the earlier post.

Name: Jens M Wglefod
Gender: Male
Birthdate: abt 1875
Age: 18
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland
Ship Name: Cephalonia
Arrival Date: 24 Jun 1893
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Last Residence: Norway

Earliest record for Olaf Bru born in 1899 finds him in North Dakota in 1915 living with the John Anderson family. He is only 15 years old so likely he is living with famly or at least friends.

Olaf Bru
in the North Dakota, Territorial and State Censuses, 1885, 1915, 1925
Name: Olaf Bru
County: Mountrail
Town/City: James Hill
State/Territory: North Dakota, USA
Census Date: 1915
Age: 15
Birth Year: abt 1900
Gender: Male
LINE: 47
Household Members:
Name Age
Olaf Bru 15

Here is the John Anderson family that Olaf Bru was living with.

John Anderson
in the North Dakota, Territorial and State Censuses, 1885, 1915, 1925
Name: John Anderson
County: Mountrail
Town/City: James Hill
State/Territory: North Dakota, USA
Census Date: 1915
Age: 42
Birth Year: abt 1873
Gender: Male
LINE: 40
Household Members:
Name Age
John Anderson 42
Alice Anderson 32
Henry A Anderson 8
Clara E Anderson 7
Orvil R Anderson 5
Mabel R Anderson 3
Mildred A Anderson 1

It is interesting that this John Anderson was born about the same year as Jens Mørk Andersen (John M Anderson from Becker and Clay counties Minnesota). Could the OP have confused the two John Andersons and Olaf Bru is not the son of the John Anderson she is interested in?

So Olaf Bru born in 1889 was probably born out of wedlock. Here is Oline Pedersdatter and her son Olaf Johansen in the 1900 Norwegian Census. Oline is listed as unmarried and she and son are living with Iver Olsen and family. Iver Olsen is listed as one of the witnesses for the birth of Olaf Bru.

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01037508002750

Called Olaf Bru in the 1910 Norwegian Census, also listed as Son but son of who is not clear. Later I learned he is considered the foster son of Iver.

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01036903003618

In the small world department, Iver Olsen is also found in the Frode Family Tree posted in OP's earlier topic by Kåre.

Immigration of Olaf Bru Sørvik

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000207231

So when Olaf Bru Sørvik emmigrated to America in 1914 he was travelling with his foster father Iver Olsen but also with Albert and Ane Skei. So there must be some sort of connection with the families.

http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=1&filnamn=EMITROND&gardpostnr=163978&merk=163978#ovre

So Olaf and Iver arrived, no indication where they were going.

Name: Olof Brue Sorich
Arrival Date: 3 May 1914
Birth Date: abt 1899
Birth Location: Norway
Birth Location Other: sorvik
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Scandinavian
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England

Albert and Ane Skei mention Becker Mn and Cooperstwon North Dakota, Becker for Court that issued Naturalization Papers and North Dakota for Address in the United States
