I would like help reading a birth record for Johannes Monsen at image 41 of the official register for Hosanger church, Hosanger parish, Hordaland county for the year 1769. The entry for Johannes is on the right hand page, and designated #1.
The entry contains the place name "Seimb", which I take to be the present-day church called Seim. I think I can also read the word "Elsaas", which is a name for a farm area near Seim.

The record is short and sweet. The baptism was on 4th Dec. The child appears to be Johannes Monsen _?_. After the abbreviation "fadd" the names of 5 witnesses are listed with given names only followed by farm names: Fridrich _?_, Anders _?_, Rasmus _?_, Synneve _?_, and Marithe _?_.
You seem more familiar with Hosanger area farm names than I - you can probably figure those out.

Baptismal date was Dec 4 1768.
The two ? should be Fridrich Fotland and Rasmus Fosse.

Mons Joensen, Tufting and Ingebor Arnisdatter, Elsaas married June 23 1755, could be Johannes parents, see #7.
The parents also baptized a Johannes March 1 1767, see #24 and a Jon Aug 25 1763, see #37.
Note the Godparents, same as for Johannes.

Thanks to all and especially to you, Einar. I was disappointed that the baptism record for Johannes Monsen - grandfather of my great-grandmother - did not identify his parents...but it appears Einar that you have found them. I have not visited Elsaas but the modern-day map shows it to be just a few dwellings at the end of a side road.

And a special thanks also to Jan Peter for posting the record with the translations in red. It allows us to see how many of the letters are formed. Especially the K and J whcih are very hard for me to decipher.
