I'm looking for a birth record and a boat record for Alice / Elisa Nelson (Nilsen) Anderson and the boat record for Alice's father, Eberhard.
Facts about Alice:
Born: 5 Dec 1882 in Solor, Norway (Hedmark)
Parents: Eberhard Nelson or Nilsen and Karen Pedersdttr
Karen was from Asnaes, Hedmark and Eberhard was from Koien farm in Valer.
Alice was 6 months old (1883) when she emigrated with her mom, sisters (Pernilla and Nicoline) and brother Ole but Alice is not listed on the boat record. They came to Pelican rapids, MN and settled in Reynolds, ND. Her father is not listed on the boat record either.

Eberhard and Karen had 10 children. But in 1894, Karen and 2 or 4 of her daughters died from diphtheria. After which, the children were dispersed and the father, Eberhard went to Canada with 1 or 2 of his sons (Ole and Edwin). We know that Pernilla (Pauline) and Nicoline passed away from diphtheria and its unknown what happened to Klara, Kaja, and Betsy. I'm also looking for the death records of these family members. They died in Reynolds, ND.

Thank you for any information you could provide.

I would have thought that after finding what appears to be Eberhard's records for leaving Norway and thus having the approximate date of arrival of late May or early June that finding his arrival record would have been if not least easy or at least doable. But Pam I have to confess I have so far not been able to come up with what I think is the right record. Many times the original manifests are difficult to read and also transcribe for the people at Ancestry.com but with a first name of Eberhard that should have made the name at least recognizable. However that has not seemed to been the case. The best shot I have is this one. The birth year is off quite a bit but at least matches the age given in the emigration records I posted above.

Lanbus Nelsen
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Lanbus Nelsen
Arrival Date: 30 May 1882
Birth Date: abt 1857
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Place of Origin: Scandinavia
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Baltic

I am not sure how you can proceed to get a better handle on the validity of this person actually being a poorly transcribed version of Eberhard Nieson.

Near to the person I posted above is a Bengt Thorbjørns and his family. Here is the emigration records for them.

Bengt

Family

As you can see this family left later in the month than your Eberhard so does cast some doubt on my find.

This is how Ancestry.com transcribed his name. Quite close

Bengt Thorhionsen
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Bengt Thorhionsen
Arrival Date: 30 May 1882
Birth Date: abt 1827
Age: 55
Gender: Male
Place of Origin: Scandinavia
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Baltic

I appreciate the departure record and will study the others on that record. It seems Eberhard used the Nilsen spelling of his last name for awhile once he arrived in America.
