| Hello, I am part of the berg lineage and I want to learn more about our past. My great great grandfather is Carl berg and he was married to Otilie Berg. I was wondering someone could help and also if there are anymore family left over there? |

| Yes that’s them! I don’t really know much past my great grandfather Olof berg. I met most of my grandpas siblings, is there any more bergs in Norway? I just know that they moved to North Dakota but that’s about it. |

Baptism record for Carl, He was born April 6, 1883. I did notice that the emigration record had the year 1882, but did have the day and month correct.

Here is Carl (Karl) with his parents and siblings in the 1891 Census. His fathers last name is spelled Embretsen in this record. Spelling can be somewhat variable in Norwegian records.

The marriage record gives the father of the bride and groom. Based on that, this is likely the baptism of the mother of Carl,

Based on the same marriage record. This is likely the baptism record for the father of Carl, Martin Engebretsen. The parish is listed as Strom, Which is a sub-parish of the main parish Sør-Ordal. In this case the last name is spelled Ingebretsen for Martin by the Transcriber., but should have been spelled Engebretsen after the name of the father Engebret.

The marriage record for 1846 shows Berger Bergersen as age 27, Born about 1819 based on that.
Also the 1865 Census shows his birth year as 1819.

Usually when you trace a family this far back in time, you can find a Family Tree online that will take you even further back. The issue is of course is how accurate is the tree. Here is one on Familysearch. Familysearch is a free site but you do have to register to use it.
The site looks fairly accurate and it does have some sources.

The site does have your ancestor Berger Bergersen.
But start with the parents Beger Jonsen Jonsrud and Dorte Mikkelsdatter and work back in time.
