My great grandfather Edvard Jensen was born April 11 1871 near Kristiansund and his sister Anna in 1869. They lost there parents at a very young age. The church in that area caught fire and some years of records were burnt. I have searched the 1875 census for the whole region. I did find a Anna Jensen born in 1869 classified as a lodger with a woman named Hendrikke Knudsen and she was classifed as a city worker in Sorholmsveien, Kristiansund. But nothing else for her. I have even looked at all birth records for most of More og Romsdal. I know in 1890 he left for USA to join his cousin Peder Larson of Tingvoll. I have tried going through Peder's tree to see if I can link one of Edvard's parents and nothing. My other 3 great grandparent had a very good paper trail. Does anyone have any suggestions. Any thing would be appreciated.

Where did you get the birth date for Edvard of April 11, 1871? Yes the baptism records for Kritiansund were badly damaged in a fire. But the confirmation records are useable. I searched the records from 1870 to 1872 without finding him?

Hi I got Edvard's birthdate and place of birth from a journal my grandmother wrote in 1965. She said both children were raised in foster care apart. She said as soon as he was old enough he worked on fishing boats and eventually on a whaling ship. I thought maybe because journal was hand written that maybe it was Christainsand instead, but I found nothing there. His headstone here says Edward Jens Forseth as he added Forseth last name as his cousin Peder said it was easier coming over.

Yes that is the Anna census that I found. I'm not sure if it's our little girl. Thank you so much for replying

Here is likely the same man with the name Edvard Olufson Furseth. I would not be surprised that this is the same man with a somewhat different name.

Morning, The find a grave info about about place and date of death is correct. I don't think birth info is right though. My grandma said many times his stories where about Kristiansund and the sea. Departure place for him to Boston keeps him in the same area. I have a feeling him and his sister Anna will be a family mystery. I have one more person I am trying to find. My great grandma's sister. I was able to find them in 1891 census Beret Anna Andersdatter in Nesset More og Romsdal. I see she is married and has a son, my great grandma and great great grandma are living with her. Oline will move to USA after the death of her mom were her sister Randi went and meet Edvard and marry him. I can't find anything more about Beret Anna. Anton I can't thank you enough for all this information

So from the marriage record of Berit Anna and Anton Andersen we see that he is connected to the farm Aandal. It would appear that when they came to America they adopted the last name as Ondahl?
