I need assistance researching my great grandfather, Anton Olson. I’m looking for documentation of basic genealogical information about his parents, siblings, etc. and I’m hoping to learn which farm he lived on, who owned it, etc. Here’s what I’ve been able to scrape together so far through oral history and unofficial sources:

Name: Anton Olson
Birthdate: 26-January 1883
Birthplace: a farm in Gausdal Norway
Parents: Ole Olson and Caroline Olson
Brother: Christ (emigrated to America - North Dakota)
Sister: Karen, Mrs. Ole Hovslakken, Lillihammer
Uncles: Fred and Anton Peterson (emigrated to America - North Dakota sometime before 1906)
Arrival in United States: 1906 (settled near Litchville ND)
Spouse: Bertha Marie (married 06-July 1913 in Minneapolis MN)
Death: May-1974, Valley City ND

I’d appreciate whatever help anyone here can provide. Thanks so much!

Anton's mother Karoline at 1857 baptism, 1865 census and 1872 confirmation:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038064007380

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/279/pk00000001688007

Baptism and confirmation record disagree on date of birth, but the date of Oct 30 listed at baptism is most likely correct, as opposef to Nov 30 listed at confirmation.

Ole, Kari and Karen in 1910. Must be the same people. So Ole was born in 1863 in Nord-Fron, and from the wedding we know his father was Christen Christophersen. With this information, his baptism record can be found:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/255/pd00000031848736

Baptism record gives the date of birth as 06-23, while the 1910 census says 06-24. Such errors are not uncommon, especially when different parishes are involved. Karen's date og birth 06-24 may also have been a confusing factor.

His second wife Kari was a widow at the 1920 census, so Ole must have passed away between 1910 and 1920. In fact Sep 4 1919. ("Kristiansen" is a transcription error; the original says Kristensen.)

Thank you all so much for your help! A quick update in case it's of interest to anyone here, I just heard from a local Gausdal historian who provided the name and a photo of the farm Anton lived on: South Saghaugen in Vestre Gausdal. He included a list of Anton's siblings which aligned with all the info you've provided in this thread.

Thank you! I see Anton's baptism record lists Lundgaard as place of residence. A local historian in Guasdal traced Anton to Saghaugen and I see some of the people listed in this baptismal record resided at Saghaugen. Am I correct to infer that at some point Anton must have moved from Lundgaard to Saghaugen? Also, the "Lodengaard" part of Anton's name on the baptismal record doesn't make sense to me. Is that a derivative of Lundgaard somehow?
