Do you know the name of Mary's father? Was it Walter? Her mother is listed as Sarah Mesner.

I was looking at their children; it seems the first four were Georgeanne, Sarah, John and Walter?
Knowing that her mother was Sarah and his father was John or a variant of that name, I'm guessing that her father was named Walter and his mother was named Jørgine; which would be the norwegian spelling of Georgeanne.

I didn't think about the Norwegian naming practices since he was here in the U.S. Thank you....that gives us another avenue to search for him and his family.

Baltimore is a less common destination for a Norwegian migrating than other ports. Here are the two earliest with the last name or patronymic name beginning with jo*:

Erik Johannes. Myhre N. Land 37 25.04.1873 Baltimore Emigranter over Kristiania 1871-1930, redigert utgave

Ole Johannes. Faaberg 24 22.05.1874 Baltimore Emigranter over Kristiania 1871-1930, redigert utgave

We have ruled out the name of the man that we thought was a good candidate for our Cornelius. It was Cornelius Jensen born 1845, the 4th name on the list of all the Kornelius'/Cornelius' born 1845 in the 1865 census at the Digitalarkivet Exact date of birth from the parish baptism records.

So on to another name on the lists....
