My great Uncle Charlie/Charley Klanderud. Name was Olsen in Norway, says on his petition for naturalization that he came from Christiania via London on or about the 9th of April 1881 via the ship Britania. don't know if that is the correct spelling for the ship name.
I would like to find him on a ships list. I have looked for and cannot find the ship Britania.
I would appreciate any help.
thank you

We do have one ship by that name Britannia our database, it is spelled with double n: Britannia and belonged to the Anchor Line, an other possibility is the Britannic of the White Star Line. How old was he when he made the voyage - any other details we could use to try find him in the emigration records from Christiania?

Charley (Karelius)Olsen Klanderud was born Nov 2 1862 according to his Petition for Naturalization.
He would have been 18 years old in April of 1881.
Thanks for your help.

Well, I think the problem is that you have been wrong about the year. I found Karelius Olsen departing from Christiania in 1882. See the entry at Digitalarkivet. He was traveling on the S/S Cameo from Christiania to London. The agent was Nils Peterson and he was authorized to convey emigrants by the Wilson Line to London and Monarch Line to New York and to the final destination in America. I can't say what she he traveled on but there only a few to check - just click on the Monarch Line link to se a list of the ships in service.
