Yes, I believe they didn't know how to spell Torbjornson at debarkment so went with Hendrickson, how the C got in there we will never know. As a kid I used to tell people that I could have been a TBjornson but basically was told that was not true. So there you go. I also could read the Norwegian paper as a kid but sure can't now. What we lose when we don't use it. I had the pleasure of attending a Sons of Norway retreat here in Washington State in April and it was fun to reconnect.
Thanks again for your help!

Hi, Another request. Does anyone know if there are any relatives still living in Norway of John Hendrickson (Henrik Johan Thorbjornsen) brother of Lars Thorbjornsen and uncle to Andreas Larson who emmigrated to Canada in 1907 (went to Valley City, ND with John first)? Also relatives of Martina Davidsdatter who married John Hendrickson in Valley City ND in 1908. She had a brother David Davidssen who stayed in Norway, son of David Stenessen (Stenesen) and Solveig Larsdatter who lived at Kvitnes farm in Ulvik, Hordaland. I would like to hear from or be able to contact them if possible.

Hello!
My grandfather was David Davidson Rondestveit, three of his brothers and two of his sisters went to America (North Valley, Dakota). Martina born in 1883 went in 1907, Brita born in 1884 went in 1903, Stein Olai born in 1886 went in 1907, Knut born in 1888 went in 1905 and Ingebrigt born in 1891 went in 1905. My grandfather got married and got thirteen children. He lived in Ulvik which is and was a small municipality in the westren part of Norway (in Hardanger) he worked in a sawmill and he died in 1963. My mother who was his daughter died in 1992. I work as a teacher in Eidfjord which is not far from Ulvik where my ancestors came from. Hope to make contact with you, maybe on Facebook.
