Einar,
hard to get any further back?
Perhaps Seljord Bygdebok would bring up more info.

21 members of the same family emigrated on Brig Vesta 1851

Passenger 44 was Gunild Torsdatter, 43 her husband Kittil Evensen and Ref. 46-49 was their children, Egileif Stenersdatter written Elise age 63 is passenger Ref. 50.

Gunder Jørgensen and his family Ref. 64-69.

The last of the three "Toe-sisters" was 118 Aasne/Aaste Thorsdatter written Oste, 117 is her husband Gulmund Eigilsen (Gulmund Igelsen) and 119-123 is their children

Birth record for passenger 44 is #19
The family can be found at LDS by searching for Kittil Evensen born 1814 (note that Egeliv is Elise in the passenger record!)
117 Gulmund Igelsen is #1 -spelling in passenger list is OK!
The family can be found at LDS by searching for Gulmund Igildsen married 1841.

Kittil Evensens birth record see #41 his parents were Even Danielsen and Tora Sondresdatter, they lived at Kivle.
No. 118 on the passenger list Oste has earlier been identified as Åste - she was christened Aase, see #31 1819.

The parents of Even Danielsen and his siblings can be found in the 1801 census here
Evens parents were engaged and married in 1762, see top of right hand page. Note that Daniel Gunleksen "er Dother-Søn af Hr Daniel Wulf" - son of the daughter of Daniel Wulf (probably a minister).
For his wife Christence Evensdatter we can read "er Dother af Hr Skakkes Dothers Dothers Dother" - is daughter of Hr Skakkes daughter-daughters daughter!

This must be Thovs #55 death record Oct. 27. 1850, age 64, listed on Dalestykke, liky on of his daughters recidence

The numbers of generations dont correspond, but the only Skakke I ever heard about is:
Earl Erling Skakke Ormsson from the mighty Stødle-family in Etne who married Princess Kristina 1155, daughter of King Sigurd 1. Jorsalfare Magnussen.
Erling fall in the battle at Kalvskinnet in Trondheim 64 years old June 19. 1179 against king Sverre.
Erlings son king Magnus Erlingsson fall in the sea-battle at Fimreite in Sognefjorden against king Sverre 1184.

Skakke means sloping/croocked, Erling got his nick name Skakke after a sea battle when he was hit by the blow of an axe in his neck as a young crusader in the Mediterranean Sea.

Many thanks everyone for your very prompt responses - now I have to match all the new information with what I had already established here in Australia. It looks like more of the family went to America than I thought. The links to original records is really exciting and I will probably have further questions. I have never had this response to a posting before so thank you.

Would those who are related to Gunder Jorgenson Toe, please contact me at robertastepan@hotmail.com? There are relatives here in the United States (including me) who have been researching this family. We would be interested in exchanging information.

Thank you, Kaare, for notifying me of this development. I really appreciate it. I was out of town and had limited access to the internet on my trip. This was a big help - I might have missed it.
Thank you again.

Hi there,
hopefully you will get in contct with descendants from some of the Toe-sisters Roberta.

A correction:
The name Skakke in the church record was a wrongspelling for Schanche.

Daniel Wulf Einar pointed out was Daniel Michelsen Wulf 1635-1713, Vicar in Seljord church living on farm Hougstogo in Flatdal local parish in Seljord.
Daniel married Maria Zakariasdatter Schanche 1655-1736 Feb. 18. 1672.

Their daughter Katarina Danielsdatter married Gunleik Olavsen Dale in 1771, parents to Daniel Gunleiksen Dale.
Note that Tov Andersen Toe died 1850 on Dalestykke.

Here is a famliy tree from Norway:
Maria Zakariasdatter was daughter of priest Zakarias Johnsen Scanche and his 2. wife Zarka Jansdatter
Click on "Etternavnsliste" (alphabetical) top page, enter Jansdatter and Sarka

Here is a link from 2005 concerning Daniel Wulf Click here

I can´t guarantee this links are correct, but they both seems very promising and serious to me.

Good luck in examine this links leading to USA and Norway 2007.

Correction to Einar? I think the correct birth record for passenger 44 (Gunild Torsdatter) is the reference in your earlier posting of 9/13/07 (#25 on p. 19 in 1818) not the one you listed on 9/14 as #19 on p. 18 in 1818. The parents are wrong in the #19 one.

The marriage of Mari Gundersdr and Jorgen Chrisophersen (parents of Gunder Jorgensen) is shown as 10/9/1804 on Bø on http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7917&idx_id=7917&uid=ny&idx_side=-91

Can anyone tell me what farm it shows Mari as being from? I have not been able to find her birth record in either Bø or Seljord. The 1815 census of Seljord shows her as 38 which should place the year about 1777.
